If you've never visited the Statue of Liberty, now is the time to make plans to fly to New York via Newark Airport and enjoy the majestic area of the iconic grand dame has been welcoming visitors Ellis Island port for 125 years.
That's right - this year the Statue of Liberty turns 125 years on October 28, 2011. Of course, New York City is planning a big celebration, but as soon as it was over, she'll be down for a full year, while equipment maintenance. History of the Statue of Liberty
Most people are aware that the Statue of Liberty was a gift to the United States from France, a gesture of friendship that symbolizes the relationship between the two countries. What to expect from your visit to the Statue of Liberty
His first task is to reach New York. You have the choice of airports, but the best would be to Newark, NJ airport. It's as close to the Statue of Liberty and is likely to take a look at how your plane lands. From the airport, taxis are available to reach the ferry that takes you to Liberty Island, but you can also choose to take the train and the subway in Manhattan.
When you reach the Statue of Liberty, you are given the opportunity to see engineering in the structure through a glass ceiling, through a guided tour. Of course, a visit to the observation deck with a panoramic view of the Big Apple, is a must. To join the tour, extended around the monument and pedestal, you must buy a ticket to pedestal / Monument, which can be accessed online before you leave for your trip to New York. If you want to go all the way to the crown of the lady, you are required to purchase a special ticket, which is available on a first come, first served. Travelling with children? One thing that is new this year is the addition of the "Liberty Bike," a special bike built by Orange County Choppers to commemorate the anniversary of the statue of this year. The mountain bike is plated with copper, which was rescued by restoration of the statue.
The museum consists of three sections: the Statue of Liberty Show, an exhibition of the torch, and the new colossus. Each of these displays will give you full information about the statue and other taxes in recent years to this great lady in the harbor of New York.
There can never be a better time to visit the Statue of Liberty this year, prior to scheduled maintenance. With great deals on airfare and hotel prices drop, you'll find this is a journey not only memorable, but affordable.
